Holland Zeil Charters has taken out a liability insurance with Nationale Nederlanden.
By ‘injury’ is meant the damage or harm done to one’s health, whether resulting in death or not, including the damage arising from this. ‘Damage to material’ includes lesions, and destruction, but also pollution and filthiness of the material and of everyone but the policyholder. It also includes the damage resulting from this.
The vessels connected to Holland Zeil Charters have taken out a so-called shipowner’s insurance. This insurance discusses PI (Protection Indemnity) coverage, especially considering environmental issues, injuries, and damage to material.
Protection includes the liability resulting from the usage of a ship as a sailing object. Indemnity means the liability resulting from the usage of a ship as a form of transport. Thus, in PI the liability of the skipper/shipowner is arranged with respect to the crew and passengers. The coverage of a third-party insurance is much higher, and is most of the times unlimited for fouls, and all other collisions.
