Schoolweeks
Holland Zeil Charters organises special 5 day school trips for schoolchildren from around 13 years old until students in their mid-twenties. Most trips originate from Monnickendam (around 15 coach-minutes from Amsterdam).
The group is welcomed aboard by the ship’s crew on Sunday evening. After installing their luggage in the cabins the group gathers together in the main salon, where the skipper will hold an introductory talk, explaining the basics of the week, the ships do’s and don’ts etc.
In the morning the group rises for breakfast. Possible shopping can be done at local supermarkets or be delivered COD on board. Around 10 am the ship will set sail after the first basic sailing instructions from the crew. The destination is dependent on the groups wishes and prevailing weather conditions. Per day there will be a maximum of 8 hours of sailing, but usually the ship moors off at the port of destination somewhere in the course of the afternoon or places are visited along the way.
A ‘school week’ ends on Friday morning, where the group disembark at the original port of departure; alternate sailing-periods can also be arranged.
On board the group will learn to work, live and relax together, as well as experience a completely new environment and culture (even without museum visits). All can be organised according to specific age groups, educational or social aspects and the general attention span.
